Hobbies: Mountain & road biking, flying, tennis, our kids
Dream Vacation: Anything active… cycling in Europe (everyday cycling in Colorado), skiing in Colorado, scuba diving in the Caribbean, hiking 14ers, etc. Paradoxically, also love reading on the beach, or by the pool.
Favorite Books: Safely Home, Forgotten Ways, No Perfect People Allowed, Practice by the Book.
Significant Life Event: Dennis’ best friend and roommate drowned 2 days before college graduation. Susan’s dad died suddenly and unexpectedly while she was in college, and her mother died 2 weeks before the birth of Samuel. We have also lost several friends of ours to various illnesses. These events have sensitized us to the brevity of life, and the importance of living life for the things that are truly meaningful.
What is cool about our Crash Groups?: About once a month, we work on a “giving back project”, in which as a group we get together to help organizations that meet real needs of others (often including our kids in these projects, when appropriate). We really get to know each other and share in each other’s lives. As we discuss life’s issues, all opinions are heard and received. We listen to all perspectives. Everyone is real and authentic.
